About Green Onion II Pizza Restaurant in North Stonington, CT

Some family businesses are defined by the business; Green Onion II Pizza Restaurant is a business defined by the Efthimiou family. George and Maggie Efthimiou provide the heart, soul and recipes for Go2Pizza, a favorite spot for locals and tourists who travel the road between I-95 and the casino. Stop by any day, and you’ll almost assuredly find George and Maggie at work. Stop by on the weekend, and don’t be surprised to see their son and daughter also at the restaurant ....

“It’s a nice family business, a place where you won’t go away hungry,” says George. “We believe that if you offer quality food and service at a fair price, you’ll do fine.”

George and Maggie, who have both been in the restaurant business since their early teens, incorporate all that experience gained both here and in Greece into every dish they prepare. Homemade meatballs, tomato sauce, dough, tartar sauce and Maggie’s garlic dressing help to provide the distinctive flavors, textures and scents that set Go2Pizza apart from the competition. It also has resulted in some long-distance requests.

Early one morning, a customer came in and ordered a large sausage pizza, which he was bringing home to New Jersey for his brother, who tried it months before and said it’s his favorite pizza. “Whoever thought we would have better pizza than New York or New Jersey?” says George.

While Go2Pizza is a labor of love for the Efthimiou family, it will always finish in second place in George’s eyes. He closes the restaurant for a week or so each year in order to take a family vacation in Greece.

“As much as I love the business, I love family more,” says George. “Every year since the kids were born, we have taken them to Greece to visit their grandparents. We work hard, but always make sure we give time to the family.”

That’s what a family business is all about.
